When we assess your application, we decide whether to offer you a grant or a crowdfunding pledge.
You're more likely to receive a crowdfunding pledge if your project is focused on:
- buying equipment
- improving or creating new facilities.
Crowdfunding pledges boost projects that would benefit from involving their community.
We usually pledge half of what you need for your project, up to a maximum of £15,000.
Then you raise the same amount from your community using our partner Crowdfunder.
You may end up raising more than the target from your community and you get to keep the difference.
Benefits of crowdfunding
Running a good crowdfunding campaign has many benefits, which could include:
- gaining new members, participants and supporters
- building stronger links with local businesses
- enhancing your project by raising more than your target
- raising your profile by getting local news coverage.
You can add extra funding to your campaign from other sources, like your local authority, national governing body and commercial organisations.
How crowdfunding pledges work
You run your own Crowdfunder campaign.
Crowdfunder recommend a six-week campaign, to create momentum, but you can choose to go up to 10 weeks.
You'll need to:
